WHAT IS UR-SPACE?

 UR-SPACE was born out of necessity and vision during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the world changed, we recognized that the demand for micro homes was set to become a major industry, providing flexible, affordable housing solutions for a new era. Driven by this insight, we embarked on our first project—a studio built using a traditional five-stage construction process, involving multiple trades. This approach, however, proved complex and labor-intensive, prompting us to search for a better, more efficient solution.

Our exploration led us to SIP panels and Magnesium Oxide (MgO) boards as potential building materials. While the MgO boards offered durability, they were both heavy and costly. This challenge ultimately opened the door to a breakthrough: steel insulated panels. Lightweight, durable, and requiring no additional interior or exterior finishing, these panels allowed us to streamline our construction process, making it faster, simpler, and more cost-effective.

With this new approach, we began building small studios and lofts, soon realizing that by importing these panels from Asia, we could significantly reduce costs and pass the savings on to our clients. This shift in materials and sourcing allowed us to provide high-quality, affordable micro homes, further fueling our commitment to accessible housing.

Today, UR-SPACE is focused on bringing advanced, innovative micro homes to communities across Canada. By establishing a distribution network of Red Seal-certified technicians, we’ve created a scalable model that not only meets growing demand but also supports local tradespeople and communities. Our journey has been one of constant improvement and dedication to providing a better way to live, helping homeowners and communities embrace the future of compact, sustainable living.
